Bhubaneswar: Odisha president of BJP Manmohan Samal on Tuesday said the leaders and workers of BJD and Congress were deserting their parties after losing confidence in their state leadership.
Welcoming several leaders of BJD and Congress to BJP at a ‘Misrana Parva’ organised at its state headquarters in Bhubaneswar, Samal said while the people’s trust in BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been increasing with each passing day, the BJD is losing the ground at a fast pace.
“The voters are disillusioned by the shadow government run by the BJD in the state. The JD leaders and workers are doubting the capabilities of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. On the other hand, the popularity of BJP is catching up fast due to Modi guarantee,” he said.
Due to waning popularity of the two parties, their leaders are deserting the sinking ship to join BJP which is headed by a strong leadership at the Centre, he said adding that the defection from BJD and Congress will further strengthen his party’s fight to bring a change in power in the state.
Several leaders of BJD including former chairman of Dharamgarh block in Kalahandi district Rabindra Kumar Pattjoshi along with other leaders and zilla parishad member of Mayurbhanj Jagannath Mallik with his supporters joined the BJP at the function.
Similarly, former state president of Chhatra Congress Itish Pradhan accompanied by several other leaders of the students wing of the Congress came to the BJP fold in presence of Samal.
