Bhubaneswar: In yet another heinous crime in Odisha, a tuition teacher in Deogarh allegedly raped five of his students.
According to sources, Rabindra Sahu, a teacher in Telasara village under Kandheigola police limits of Deogarh district allegedly raped five girl students.
He was teaching at his home. It has been revealed that he had been raping the students since the past several months but none of the girls had the courage to raise their voice against him out of shame. However, upon getting knowledge of it, two parents lodged a complaint in Kandheigola police station yesterday.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested the accused on Wednesday.
Kandheigola police station IIC Ratnakar Mallick said, “Based on the complaint, we have started investigation into the matter. We have sent the girls for medical examination. Action will be taken according to the medical reports.”
In a similar incident a couple of months back, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her tuition teacher at Ambapada village in Kendrapara district.
The accused identified as Ganesh Nayak was arrested by the Nikirei police.
According to information, Nayak, a physically-challenged person, used to come to the girl’s house for home tuition. The matter came to light after the accused by mistake sent a video clip of the girl in the nude to the victim’s father, who lives somewhere outside the state.
Following the incident, the villagers caught hold of the accused when he visited the victim’s house and handed him over to the police.
He confessed to the crime.
