Balasore: A tuition teacher allegedly slit the throat of a girl student at Dehurda village under Bhogarai block in the district on Thursday evening.
The teacher, identified as Biswanath Nath of Dehurda village, works in a private college. Alongside, he used to conduct tuition.
According to sources, Nath slit the throat of a Plus II second-year girl student around 9 pm and fled the village.
The girl, who serious cut injuries, was rushed to the local CHC and then shifted to Balasore district headquarters hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and efforts are on to nab the accused teacher.
