Tuning In To A Bygone Era At Bhubaneswar Radio Fair

Bhubaneswar: Over 3,000 different types of radio sets, tape recorders and century-old gramophones were the cynosure of all eyes at the 6th International Radio Fair held in the city.

There were also stalls that offered instant radio repair alongside new radio sets for sale.

The two-day fair was organised on the occasion of World Radio Day. It was hosted by Outreach, a media organisation, at Bhanja Kala Mandap on February 13 and 14.

The participants at this year’s fair comprised various broadcast stakeholders such as radio jockeys, broadcasters, technicians, media planners and policy makers as well as government representatives.

The star attraction of the event was RJ Kartik of 94.3 My FM Jaipur, who is his famous for his motivational stories.

Deliberating on the pivotal role of radio, Kartik said, “Everyone likes surprises and when we listen to radio, we don’t know which song will play next and this is the beauty of radio, the element of surprise.”

The event had more than 10 sessions devoted to discussions, meetings, seminars, workshops and interactions on radio. Radio stations also organised listener conferences for their listeners.
