Jajpur: The officials of the Jajpur Forest Division seized one elephant tusk, five deer antlers and a live chameleon and detained two persons during a raid on Tuesday night.
Officials acted on a tip-off about the sale of elephant tusk and deer antlers brought from Nilagiri area in Balasore district inside the reserve forest near Bhijipur in Jajpur district. A team of Forest officials then raided the forest and nabbed two persons. However, the other two associates managed to escape.
The forest officials, who did not reveal the name of the two arrested persons belonging to Jajpur Road and Balasore areas, said that the interrogation of the accused is underway to ascertain their modus operandi.
