Dhenkanal: A tusker was found dead at Rankia village under Bhuban forest range in Kamakhyanagar in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Friday.
According to local villagers, it is suspected that the elephant got electrocuted while eating paddy grown on farmland near the forests. A wire was found lying near the carcass.
On being informed by the villagers, forest department staff arrived at the spot and initiated a probe to ascertain the cause of the pachyderm’s death.
It is pertinent to mention here that another tusker was found dead near Dangadiha under Thakurmunda range of Karanjia forest division in Mayurbhanj on Monday.
