Cuttack: A tusker was found dead in a paddy field at Paikerapur village under Khuntuni forest range in Cuttack district on Friday.
According to reports, locals spotted the carcass in a paddy field and informed forest officials.
It is being suspect that the elephant, aged around 50 years, might have died last night following a tussle among a group of elephants. However, the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained. The tusks were, however, found intact.
Athagarh, which is known as elephant corridor, has witnessed several pachyderm deaths due to electrocution in the past.
