Bhubaneswar: A tusker was found stuck in a muddy pond near Kiding village in Lanjigarh block of Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Monday.
According to sources, a herd of elephants had entered the village last night to feed on the crops and one of them fell into the nearby slush-filled pond. Locals who spotted the tusker this morning informed officials of Biswanathpur Range. Following this, an operation was launched to rescue the elephant.
A huge crowd gathered at the spot to watch the elephant, which was seen making several attempts to climb out of the pond but in vain.
