Sambalpur: Forest officials rescued a tusker, which had fallen into a moat at Sana Hindol under Charamala Range at Redhakhol in Sambalpur district, on Sunday morning.
According to the sources, the elephant fell into the moat while looking for food early in the morning.
Hearing the trumpets from inside the moat, the locals informed the forest department about the elephant this morning.
The forest department officials rushed to the spot and rescued the elephant with the help of a JCB machine, the sources added.
A crowd of hundreds had gathered to witness the rescue operation.
