Tusker Treated For Arrow Wounds In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A tusker suffered injuries after being hit by two arrows near Raghupani Dam in Narsinghpur block of Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The matter came to the fore after forest officials during a routine check spotted the huge mammal on Saturday. A team of forest officials from Dhenkanal and a team of veterinary doctor from Nandankanan Zoological Park reached there last evening. The elephant was traced into the forest this morning and tranquillised, following which the superficial wounds were dressed.

Preliminary probe suggests it to be the handiwork of some poachers.
