Tusks Of Elephant Electrocuted In Odisha’s Nayagarh Recovered, 3 Detained

Nayagarh: Forest officials on Thursday recovered tusks of an elephant and detained three people in Odisha’s Nayagarh.

The accused had allegedly electrocuted the elephant for tusk extraction.

According to sources, an operation was launched to nab the culprits after a tusker was found electrocuted near Daspalla forest area in Nayagarh district. It lasted for 48 hours during which the forest official nabbed the accused and also recovered the tusks from them.

Sharing the information on social media X handle, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda thanked the Nayagarh forest officials for the successful operation. “Team Nayagarh did some scientific and proper investigation without rest for the last 48 hrs leading to the accused being caught. My sincere thanks,” he wrote.
