According to sources, police had information that the accused, Gopalkrishna Badatiya, was staying in a rented accommodation with the girls here and accordingly a raid was conducted. The two minor sisters have been rescued and shifted to Sakhi centre.
“The accused has been detained. They will be handed over to Bhubaneswar Police later,” Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar told the media.
The Commissionerate Police have reportedly left for Sambalpur to grill the accused.
Notably, the teacher and his two students had been absconding since Sunday. The girl had left their house leaving behind a note, stating that they would be back in eight days. Following this, the girl’s mother lodged a complaint at Badagada police station and two teams were formed the nab the tutor.
The parents of the girls had alleged that the teacher was annoyed after they objected to him holding back the sisters long after the tuition schedule for casual banter. He had even threatened the parents when they opposed his unusual behaviour.
