Hyderabad: In an incident straight out of a film script, a television actor fired with an air gun at his partner’s husband at a resort.
M Manoj Kumar, his partner and her two children were staying in a resort at Shamirpet when the husband Sidhartha Das arrived there to see their children. As an argument broke out between Das and his estranged wife, Manoj fired at the latter, Deccan Chronicle reported.
Das escaped unhurt and approached the police.
Manoj has been taken into custody, and his weapon and pellets seized.
“Manoj is being produced before the court for judicial remand,” DCP G Sundeep said.
According to police, the 49-year-old Das and his wife (45) have a son (17) and a daughter (13). The duo has been staying separately for nearly three years due to disputes and differences, and have approached the court for divorce.
While Das works in a private company at Visakhapatnam, his techie wife has been staying with 35-year-old Manoj along with her children in a villa at Celebrity resort.
Even though the woman secured a court order restraining her husband from visiting them, Das went to the resort on Saturday morning, which infuriated her.
Manoj reportedly told police that he thought some unknown person had come to attack them and, in self-defence, he had fired at the person. Further investigation is in process, police said.
