Lucknow: Police have arrested film and TV serial actor Bhupinder Singh and three aides for allegedly killing a neighbour.

They were accused of firing at Bhupinder’s neighbours, resulting to the death of one and injuries to two others, police said on Thursday.

Three policemen have been suspended for negligence in the matter, PTI reported.

The shocking incident took place in Kuakheda village of Badhapur area in UP’s Bijnor district on Sunday.

Bhupinder — who has featured in popular TV serials like ‘Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam’, ‘Ek Hasina Thi’, ‘Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon’, ‘Rishton Ka Chakravyuh’ and ‘Tere Sheher Mein’ besides a handful of Hindi and South films — had an altercation with his neighbour Gurdeep, a farmer, over felling of a tree on his farm.

According to ASP Dharam Singh Marchal, the argument got heated before Bhupinder pulled out his licensed revolver and shot at Gurdeep, his sons Govind and Amrik.

While 23-year-old Govind died on the spot, the two others were seriously injured and admitted to the district hospital.

Bhupendra and his three associates were taken to custody on Monday, the ASP said.

The victims had submitted a letter to the police on November 19 complaining of Bhupinder’s attempts to cut trees on his farm but no action was taken.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) took serious note of police negligence and suspended Badhapur SHO Sumit Rathi, Inspector Yasin and Constable Krishna Kumar, the ASP informed.

The SP handed over the inquiry to ASP Dharam Singh after noting that Circle Officer Sangram Singh showed laxity in the case.
