Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday issued an advisory asking people to be wary of unknown individuals on Facebook offering help to women in trouble.
On its official Twitter handle, the Twin City Police posted a message saying that it had come to their notice that some people had been posting phone numbers on the social networking site and asking women to contact them when in trouble. Police have warned the social media users not to rely on these numbers and instead dial 100 where “friendly & well-trained operators” will attend to them.
“This is supposedly a mischief. I urge people not to believe in such messages trending on social media,” DCP Anup Sahoo said, warning people against falling prey to such hoax.
