Jharsugda: Parents of Kalpana Das, who along with her 14-year-old daughter was allegedly murdered by former Odisha MLA Anup Sai in May 2016, appeared before Chakradharnagar police in Chhattisgarh.
According to media reports, Kalpana’s father Rudraksh Dash said he had no inkling about Sai’s involvement in the killing of his daughter.
The family had no contact swith Kalpana since 2015 as she had then refused to provide any details about her whereabouts, he added.
The police, however, are yet to trace the murder weapon and the second vehicle, a Bolero, used in the crime. Police had earlier seized an Innova in connection with the case.
The absence of any eyewitness in the four-year-old case is also making things difficult for the police, the reports added.
The former MLA had allegedly bludgeoned Kalpana with whom he was in a live-in relation till 2016 when the latter insisted on marriage and demanded a share in his properties. He then got his driver to run an SUV over the bodies to conceal their identities and pass it off as a case of accident, police sources had earlier said.
The interrogation of Sai’s driver, who was later arrested, had revealed involvement of another person and a Bolero in the crime.
The former MLA is now in judicial custody.
