New Delhi: Twinkle Khanna is ready with her fourth book titled, “Welcome to Paradise.” She has a surprise element in store for her readers – her connection to Freddie Mercury. Both had a common science teacher named Mr. Peter Patrao in Panchgani during their school days. Twinkle shared nostalgic photos on Instagram, including one with Freddie Mercury and mentioned that he also appears in her new book. Freddie Mercury had a connection to India due to his Parsi heritage and attended a boarding school in Panchgani, where Twinkle Khanna also studied. Coincidentally, their chemistry teacher had taught both of them.
Twinkle Khanna’s Instagram post featured some nostalgic photographs, including a young Twinkle, Freddie Mercury, and a snapshot of him with his first band, the Hectics.
Sharing the photograph on Instagram, she penned, “Freddie and I have one thing in common and it’s not melodious voices, but a wonderful science teacher in Panchgani. I am not quite sure how this happened, but while writing, Freddie landed up in my new book as well. Preorders are now open with links in my bio and stories.
Freddie Mercury’s childhood had a significant connection to India, influenced by his Parsi heritage. In 1954, when he was just eight years old, he was enrolled at St. Peter’s School, a British-style boys’ boarding school located in Panchgani, thus becoming one of the institution’s notable alumni. Interestingly, Twinkle Khanna pursued her education at New Era School in Panchgani, which happened to be a mere ten-minute walk from St. Peter’s School. Coincidentally, her chemistry teacher, Peter Patrao, had previously served at St. Peter’s, where he had taught none other than Freddie Mercury himself.
