Mumbai: Twitter on Thursday took down two posts by actress Kangana Ranaut as they violated rules of the microblogging platform.
The action was taken “in line with our range of enforcement options,” Twitter stated.
The Bollywood actress, who has a penchant for getting into controversies with her social media posts, attacked American pop star Rihanna for the latter’s post on farmers’ protest and called her a ‘fool’.
Kangana had retweeted Team India cricketer Rohit Sharma’s post expressing solidarity with #IndiaTogether and said that cricketers are “afraid” to say the truth about farmers who are protesting. Kangana mentioned the word “terrorists”, which violates Twitter guidelines because of which the posts have been deleted.
Many cricketers, Bollywood personalities and politicians on Wednesday tweeted using the #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda hashtags after the Union Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement condemning the messages of international celebrities as “irresponsible” and “inaccurate.”
Kangana has been tweeting on farmers’ protest for some time now, and even called them “terrorists”. She got into a war of words with those supporting the protests, including Diljit Dosanjh.
In January, Kangana’s Twitter account had been suspended for a few hours after a controversial post on the web series Tandav.
