Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey Apologises To Employees For Mass Layoffs

New York: As new owner Elon Musk has gone into overdrive towards restructuring Twitter, the founder of the microblogging site on Saturday apologised to its employees.

A day after the social media company laid off nearly 50 per cent of its work force, Jack Dorsey took responsibility for so many employees being in this situation.

“Folks at Twitter past and present are strong and resilient. They will always find a way no matter how difficult the moment. I realize many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologise for that,” Dorsey tweeted.

Dorsey quit as chief executive of Twitter last November, when Parag Agrawal was appointed CEO.

Dorsey stepped down from the Twitter board in May this year, ending his relationship with the social network he founded in 2006.

Musk last week completed the $44 billion takeover of Twitter, and immediately sacked Agrawal along with most top executives and the board.

Around half the company’s 7500 employees received marching orders on Friday, capping a week of chaos and uncertainty about their future under the world’s richest person.
