Ahmedabad: Twitter has removed a cartoon tweeted by the Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over last week’s Ahmedabad blasts verdict triggered a massive row. The tweet was in response to a court’s judgment, wherein 38 convicts on the 2008 Ahmedabad blasts case were awarded death sentence, even as 11 others were given life imprisonment.
“The post on the 2008 serial blasts verdict has been removed by Twitter after someone reported against it,” Gujarat BJP spokesperson Yagnesh Dave said, news agency PTI reported. According to the PTI report, the cartoon showed skull caps hanging by the noose and had a tricolour and Satyamev Jayate written on the background.
The caricature was posted on the official Twitter handle of Gujarat BJP a day after the court verdict. The cartoon is no longer available on Facebook, Instagram, or other social media accounts of BJP Gujarat.
