Balasore: Two villagers sustained critical injuries after a mad fox attacked them in Dagarpada village under the jurisdiction of Khaira police in Balasore district early Monday morning.
The victims have been identified as Bhagirathi Barik and Gourang Chandra Rout of Dagarpada village. They have been admitted to a local hospital.
Sources said that a mad fox bit Gouranga while he was on his way to work Monday morning. Sometime later, the same fox bit Bhagirathi who was passing by the area. Hearing their cries, local residents rushed to the spot and took them to a nearby hospital.
The incident has given rise to panic and fear among the local residents.
Meanwhile, the villagers have urged Forest officials to capture the fox at the earliest and release the animal in a jungle.
