Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday busted two bike-lifting gangs and arrested five members.
Giving details to the media, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash said under the supervision of ACP Anil Mishra, the IIC of Nayapalli police station Sarada Sahu and his team have busted the gang and seized 46 motorbikes and seven mobile phones from their possession.
He said the seized bikes bear the registration numbers of Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and other districts of the state. One of the gangs used to supply the stolen bikes in Jankia area of Khurda district to be engaged in the illegal stone quarries, the other gang used to steal sports bikes for snatching and other criminal activities.
The DCP further said most of the bikes were stolen from Mancheswar, Chandrasekharpur, Saheed Nagar and other areas of Bhubaneswar. While the owners of some bikes have been identified, efforts are on to identify the owners of the remaining bikes, he added.
