Rourkela: Two young men were killed as a trailer truck ran over their motorcycle in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Friday.
According to sources, the two youths, identified as Kedar Kalo and Loknath Majhi of Jhupurunga village under Hemgiri police limits in the district, were going on a motorcycle when the trailer going on a high speed ran over them at Bileimunda petrol pump near their village.
Both Kalo and Majhi died on the spot. Following the accident, the locals rushed to the spot and informed the police. But the trailer driver managed to escape.
Agitated over the death of the two youths, the locals staged a road blockade. They alleged that the spot had become prone to accidents. But the district administration had failed to any safety measures to curb the accidents, they said. Recently, five persons had died in a truck-van collision at the same place. V
Vehicular movement on the road was affected due to the road blockade while the police were trying to pacify to the agitating people and trying to restore traffic movement.
