Bhubaneswar: Two brothers drowned in a pond at Jena Sahi in Kakarudrapur under Balianta police limits on the outskirts of the city on Monday.
According to reports, the siblings, Soumya Ranjan (12) and Smruti Ranjan (10), had gone to the water body to take a bath around 10 am. However, the younger brother slipped into the pond and drowned. The 12-year-old met the same fate while attempting to save his brother.
On being informed, fire personnel from Balipatana rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies from the pond.
