Two Children Drown In River In Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: Two children drowned while taking bath in Domuhani river at Mohana in Odisha’s Gajapati district on Thursday morning.

According to reports, a woman had taken her six-year-old daughter Soumya Chhualsingh and three-year-old son Bishnu Chhualsingh to the river.

On reaching the river bank, the woman got busy washing clothes. Her daughter then entered the river to take a bath. While bathing, the six-year-old slipped into the deep waters. When the woman did not find her daughter, she started searching for her. As she was looking around for her, the three-year-old entered  the water and drowned.

After a frantic search with the help of the locals, the two children were retrieved from the river  and brought to the government hospital at Mohana, where the doctors declared them brought dead.

Sources said that the woman, a native of Katama village, had come to her kin’s house on the occasion of Diwali and was scheduled to return to her village on Thursday.
