Malkangiri: The COVID-19 positive cases in the south Odisha district of Malkangiri continued a steady rise with the two civic bodies accounting for 35% of the total cases.
As per the statistics available with the district administration, out of a total of 1780 confirmed cases, the Malkangiri Municipality and Balimela NAC reported 624 cases in the last 22 days since August 1.
While Malkangiri Municipality registered 503 cases, the Balimela NAC has 121 cases.
Meanwhile, out of 85 new cases reported in the district in the last 24 hours, 45 are from Malkangiri Municipality and 9 are from Balimela NAC. As many as 84 cases are local contacts.
With four deaths and 1140 recoveries, the district has 636 active cases at present.
