Puri: Two criminals were injured in police encounter at Kajipatna near Mangalpur under Pipili police station limits in Odisha’s Puri district late on Thursday night.
The injured have been identified as Subash Pradhan and Amar Omkar Solanki.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Sadar Police tried to overpower the duo at Kajipatna in the late night. But the duo while trying to escape, fired three rounds at the police who retaliated. The history-sheeters after sustaining bullet injuries on their legs, were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, the Puri Sadar SDPO informed.
The duo is involved in several criminals cases including the murder of Ganga Bhola of Batagan village. While Subash has two murder cases pending against him, Amar, a native of Maharashtra, has one murder case, the SDPO added.
