Two Criminals Injured In Police Encounter In Aska

Aska: Two wanted criminals were injured in an encounter with the police at Aska in Odisha’s Ganjam district early on Monday.

The two criminals, identified as Sunil Jena and Krushna Jena, were shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

Acting on a tip-off on the presence of these two criminals at Pallimala, a team of Aska police raided the area. Seeing the police team, the two criminals opened fire on them and tried to flee the area. However, they sustained bullet injuries after the police retaliated.

Police later seized 2 country-made pistols, five live cartridges and two motorcycles from their possession and admitted them to the MKCG Hospital.

According to police, the two criminals had absconded after the murder of Sadanand alias Bahana Lenka, the brother of Kharia sarpanch Arabinda Lenka near Aska College Square late on December 31 night while he was returning home with his associate on a bike.
