Berhampur: Two criminals sustained injuries during an encounter with police at Sana Ghati Chhak under Khallikote police limits late on Tuesday.
They were identified as Rajesh Reddy and Sushant Pradhan.
A car, two pistols and cash to the tune of Rs 2.25 lakh werewere se from their possession.
Following a tip-off regarding the criminals’ presence near Sana Ghati Chhak, a police team raided the area to nab them. In a bid to escape arrest, the duo opened fire on the cops. The raiding team retaliated in which the criminals sustained bullet injuries in their legs. They have been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The two were allegedly involved in a dacoity near the Khallikote toll plaza on June 2 in which Rs 25 lakh was looted from an employee of Gorapalli toll gate, police sources informed.
