Khurda: In a suspected pre-poll violence, two persons sustained bullet injuries in a firing incident at Kantulabai village under Tangi police limits in Khurda district late on Monday.

According to police sources, Sibaprasad Parida and Nalini Parida had a heated exchange of words with some youths, following which the latter opened fire leaving them grievously injured.

The duo was rescued by villagers and admitted to district headquarters hospital. They were later shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar as their condition deteriorated.
Policemen have been deployed in the village to avoid any untoward incident.
