Sambalpur: Two persons were killed and 15 others sustained injuries after a picnic bus collided head-on with an oil tanker near Kayakuda under Jujomura police limits in Sambalpur district on Saturday.
One of the deceased has been identified as Shuka Das (48) of Gopalpur village under Balichandrapur block in Jajpur. The identity of the other is yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, 40 people from Balichandrapur had gone to Hirakud dam for a picnic.
The accident took place when they were returning from Sambalpur. An oil tanker hit the picnic bus near Kayakuda on Sambalpur-Cuttack NH-55.
All the injured persons were admitted to Sambalpur district headquarters hospital.
On being informed, police reached the spot and started investigation.
