Bhubaneswar: Two persons have been detained in connection with the case in which a couple, sleeping on the footpath near PMG Square in front of the Odisha Assembly here, was attacked with a sharp weapon on Sunday night. The man died while his wife sustained critical injuries.
Asked by reporters about the motive behind the attack and the identity of the attackers, police said investigations were at a preliminary stage. A sharp weapon was found near the scene of crime.
The woman has been admitted to Capital Hospital here. The couple’s child was spared by the attackers and has been handed over to Childline authorities.
The couple, probably migrant labourers in the city, and the child were sleeping near an ATM kiosk at PMG Square.
