Two Die In Road Accident In Balasore

Balasore: A truck ran over two florists in front of Dandakali Temple near Khantapada police station in Odisha’s Balasore district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Rakesh Das (14) and his relative Amiya Das (28) of nearby Suthanga village.  When they were selling flowers in front of the temple, a speeding truck hit them. The two died on the spot.

The truck driver and the helper fled. A mob blocked National Highway-5, demanding compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the family of the deceased.

The Bahanaga tahasildar and Khantapada police rushed to the spot. Normalcy was restored after the Balasore district administration announced it would provide Rs 10,000 for cremation of each deceased from the Redcross fund.
