Two Dreaded Criminals Nabbed In Police Encounter In Cuttack

Cuttack: Two dreaded criminals were arrested after an encounter with police near Kuakhai bridge in Cuttack late on Saturday.
The criminals have been identified as Mangu alias Manoj Panigrahi and Lipu alias Sudhakar Patra.
Both of them were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The encounter took place at around 3 am.
Acting on a tip-off about the criminals’ presence in the area, the special squad of Commissionerate Police reached the place to nab them. Realising arrival of the cops, the duo opened fire at them.
The police team retaliated by firing back in which the criminals sustained bullet injuries on their legs.
Two mousers, 15 round bullets and 12 cell phones were seized from the arrested persons.
The two were involved in a firing incident of Pratap Nagari under Sadar police limits on March 2. Three people were injured in the incident, a police officer informed.
A number of criminal cases are pending against the criminals at different police stations, the officer said.
