Cuttack: Two persons allegedly slit the throat of an auto-rickshaw driver following a dispute over parking in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Sunday.
According to sources, the auto-rickshaw driver had parked his vehicle and was waiting to pick up passengers at Madhupatna square in the city when the two persons, who were reportedly in inebriated condition, arrived on a bike there.
The bikers started an argument with the auto-rickshaw driver over parking at the spot. As the argument escalated, the driver and the bikers started assaulting each other. One of the bikers brought out a sharp weapon and slit the throat of the driver.
The locals informed the police and rushed the profusely bleeding driver to a hospital in the city. The driver was undergoing treatment even as his condition was stated to be critical.
A team from Madhupatna police station went to the crime spot and started investigation. They have registered a case and started a manhunt to trace the bikers, who absconded after committing the crime. The police suspected that the bikers belonged to Madhupatna, the sources said.
