Bhubaneswar: The engineering section of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was sealed for seven days and all staff asked to undergo home quarantine after three employees tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday
Among the infected are two engineers and a driver.
Informing the media, BMC commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said an executive engineer, an assistant engineer and the driver had recently gone on leave to attend a wedding in Sambalpur. They underwent COVID-19 test after returning to Bhubaneswar.
Stating that some staff might have come in contact with the two engineers as they had attended a meeting at the BMC office after returning from Sambalpur, Chaudhary said that the engineering section has been sealed for a week and is being completely sanitized.
“The BMC staff, who had come in contact with these two engineers, have been asked to undergo home quarantine,” he said
The three employees have been shifted to COVID hospital and contact tracing is underway, he added.
