Sambalpur: Following less rainfall in the upper catchments of Mahanadi River, the authorities of Hirakud Dam closed two sluice gates on Thursday.
At present, 12 gates are open to release floodwater.
While the inflow of floodwater into the reservoir is 1.799 lakh cusecs, the outflow is 2 lakh cusecs.
The water level of the dam by 6 am was 605.54 feet.
Due to the release of floodwater, the water level of Mahanadi in the lower catchments has gone up at Khairmal and Mundali.
