Kendrapada: In a historical judgment, Kendrapada District and Sessions Judge court sentenced two persons to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for gang raping a woman after robbery.
Judge Gourishankar Satpathy convicted Ashok Jena and Babuli Jena under Sections 457 (trespassing into house at night to commit offence), 395 (dacoity), 397 (dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 376 (rape) of the IPC.
Another accused, Paresh Mallick, was sentenced to 10 years of RI.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each failing which they have to spend three more months in jail. The conviction would go concurrently, it added.
On August 13, 2013, the three broke into a house at Madhuban village under Aul block of the district forcefully, committed a robbery and later gang-raped a woman.
