Two Girl Students Attempt Suicide After Failing Plus II Exams

Balasore: Two girl students allegedly attempted suicide in Soro area of Balasore district after their failure in clearing Plus II examinations, the results of which were declared on Saturday.

Both the students were rushed to Soro community health centre in critical condition last night.

According to sources, a student of Talanagar Science College tried to kill herself by consuming poison in a nearby field near her house at Pathanapada in the district.

In another case, a girl studying in Upendranath College also attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance after she failed to clear the examinations. She was rescued by her family members and was hospitalised. Her condition is said to be critical.

On May 17, a student allegedly committed suicide at Gayatri Nagar under Bada Bazaar police limits in Berhampur of Ganjam district.

The deceased, Rajesh Kumar Panda (19), was a Plus II Science student of a private college here.

 Rajesh took the extreme step by pouring kerosene on his body and setting himself on fire, apprehending failure in Plus II examinations.

 The student had earlier failed to clear his papers twice.
