Nuapada: Two girl students of a college sustained critical injuries after being attacked by a school clerk in the district on Wednesday.
The girls were identified as Chandraka Majhi and Premlata Jagat of Chikalchuan village under Boirgaon panchayat.
According to reports, when the girls, who are students of Biju Patnaik College in Boden, were going to the local market, the clerk of Boirgaon High School, Lalita Naik intercepted them.
Lalita reportedly told Chandraka that he was in love with her. Enraged by this, Chandraka confronted him and an argument ensued between them. Lalita took out a knife and attacked Chandraka and Premlata injuring them critically.
The locals rushed the two girls to Boden hospital. Their condition was stated to be stable, according to hospital sources.
Later, the girls lodged a complaint with police who registered a case and arrested the school clerk. A police official said the accused have been forwarded to the court.
