Nayagarh/Rourkela: Two girls were allegedly raped in separate incidents in Nayagarh and Sundargarh districts of Odisha on Tuesday.
In Nayagarh, a mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped by her uncle at Krushnachandrapur village.
An FIR regarding the crime has been lodged by the victim’s family members against the accused at Chandapur police station. Police also conducted raids at different places in the district to nab the accused.
In another incident in Sundargarh district, a woman was allegedly gang-raped by two persons in town police station area. The victim was returning home when the duo took her to an isolated place and allegedly raped her.
A police complaint has been lodged by her family members in this regard.
On June 1, a complaint regarding gang-rape of a minor girl was lodged at Rambha police station in Ganjam district.
According to the complaint, the girl was allegedly gang-raped by three persons at Badachakada village under Rambha police station limits in the district when she had gone to take bath in a pond near the village.
Though the incident took place on May 26, the matter came to the fore after the victim, her father and mother lodged the police complaint after the village sarpanch failed to initiate any action despite assurance.
