Two Injured As Fire Engulfs Electrical Shop In Odisha’s Jajpur Town

Jajpur: Two persons were injured and properties worth lakhs of rupees destroyed in a major fire in a market in Odisha’s Jajpur town on Friday.

According to sources, the owner of Kiran Light House, Karunakar Das, in Laxmi Market under Jajpur Road police station was working in his shop in the evening when he heard a loud explosion and fire broke out.

As the fire spread rapidly, Das and a customer, present in the shop got trapped inside. They sustained severe burn injuries. The customer was identified as Sanjay Pati of Korabandi under Korei police limits in the district.

On being informed, Fire Brigade from Jajpur town went to the spot and rescued Das and Pati from inside the shop. The two persons were rushed to local hospital.

Later, the fire was brought under control after sustained efforts of the Fire personnel. While the cause of fire has not been ascertained, electrical goods worth lakhs of rupees have been destroyed in the incident, the sources said.
