Mayurbhanj: Two persons were seriously injured when a bear attacked them near Chririlapi village in Mayurbhanj district in the early hours on Tuesday.
According to reports, the wild animal attacked Kaate Phingua and Chaare Phingua in a nearby forest, where they had gone to attend nature’s call. Hearing them scream, villagers rushed to the spot and rescued them. The animal also panicked seeing the crowd and dissappeared into the forest.
The duo was admitted to Rairangpur hospital for treatment. Kaale was later shifted to Baripada district headquarters hospital, after his condition deteriorated.
A team of forest officials, who reached the village after getting information regarding the incident, said the bear could have strayed from the nearby forest areas in search of food.
