Rayagada: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha’s Rayagada rose to 4,215 with the highest single-day spike of 495 cases in the last 24 hours.
Of the new cases, 218 were reported from two jails. According to reports, 157 persons, including five prison staffers, at Rayagada sub-jail and 61 inmates of Gunupur sub-jail tested positive for the virus on Thursday.
Rayagada district also reported one more COVID-19 death, raising the toll to 22 on Friday. The deceased was identified as a 60-year-old male.
With 22 deaths and 2,278 recoveries, Rayagada district has 1915 active cases at present.
