Nuapada/Ganjam: At least two persons were killed and 20 others injured in two different road mishaps, one in Nuapada on Wednesday night and the other in Ganjam district on Thursday morning.
Two persons were killed after a speeding truck hit a motorcycle they were riding near Jalamakata village under Komana block of Nuapada district on Wednesday night. The dead persons have been identified as Ritan Singh and Bibekananda Bag of Budhikomana village. Sources said the accident took place when the two were on their way home.
The police reached the spot and sent the two to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
In another incident, 20 persons were injured after a bus they were travelling in overturned near Kalinga Ghat under Bhanjanagar police limits on Thursday morning.
Sources said the bus was carrying baraatis (wedding guests). Its driver lost control after which the bus turned turtle. The injured were rushed to hospitals in Bhanjanagar and G. Udaygiri.
