Nayagarh: Two persons were reportedly killed as their motorcycle rammed into a roadside tree in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the incident took place when Suryakant Behera of Dalak village under Odagaon police station in the district and Gyan Ranjan Sahu of Madyakhanda village under Daspalla police limits were going on the motorcycle from Andharkot to Nachhipur.
When they approached Nachhipur square, Suryakant lost control over the bike for some reason and rammed into a roadside tree. Both of them were thrown off the bike and fell on the ground. They died on the spot on the impact of the fall, the sources said.
Following the incident, the locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the families of the deceased. On being informed, a team from Daspalla police station rushed to the accident spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They also tried to pacify the agitated people by assuring them of looking into their demands.
The sources said Suryakant was working as manager in Mukhyamantri Bus Seva and Gyan as supervisor.
