Kalahandi: Two persons died and one was critically injured after a truck allegedly ran over a motorcycle on the Jayapatna–Motera road in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Wednesday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Shakti Majhi and Bipin Majhi of Bhejiguda village under Kalampur police limits.

ording to sources, the accident took place when the trio was returning home. While Shakti and Bipin died on the spot, Basudev Majhi was admitted to a nearby hospital in a critical condition. Eyewitnesses reported that the riders were thrown onto the highway under the impact of the collision.
The accident triggered panic among locals, who gathered at the scene in large numbers and staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the bereaved families.
On being informed, police reached the accident site, recovered the bodies and initiated an investigation to trace the vehicle involved in the accident. They also pacified the protestors, assuring them of stringent action against the driver once identified.
