Kendrapada: Two persons died and another sustained injuries in a collision between 2 two-wheelers in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Saturday.
According to sources, the accident took place when Khageswar Nayak and Ramesh Nayak of Kaithapala village in the district were returning home on a bike from Sihopada in the afternoon. They were reportedly not wearing helmets.
While taking a turn on Sihopada-Baripada road, their bike collided head-on with a scooter coming from the opposite direction. Both Khageswar and Ramesh fell down and sustained injuries on their heads. The scooter rider, identified as Sushant Bindhani, was also injured in the incident.
The locals rushed all the three injured persons to Community Health Centre (CHC) at Rajkanika. But the doctors in the hospital declared them dead on arrival. However, Sushant, whose leg was fractured in the accident, is undergoing treatment in the CHC.
On being informed, a team from Rajkanika police station went to the hospital and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They also seized the two vehicles and started investigation after registering a case.
