Two Killed, One Injured In Lightning Strikes In Angul

Angul: Two persons were killed and another sustained critical injuries in lightning strikes in Angul district on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Santilata Pradhan and Baisakhi Pradhan. The duo belongs to one family of Jarapada village under Derjang police limits in the district.

According to sources, both of them were working in an agricultural field near the village when lightning struck them.

Another person of the same village was critically injured after being hit by lightning and was rushed to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha, particularly the south and central parts, in the next 24 hours with the well-marked low pressure formed over Bay of Bengal turning into a depression.
