Two killed, seven injured in SUV-truck collision

Dhenkanal: Two persons were killed while seven sustained critical injuries when a SUV in which they were
travelling collided head-on with a truck on NH-55 near Baniapada in Dhenkanal district on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Pabitra Mohan Das and Satyanarayan Mishra. Those injured were admitted to Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital and three among them later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.
According to police sources, the deceased and injured were employees of Jindal Steel and Power Limited. They
were returning from Kendrapada after attending a wedding on Sunday night when the accident took place. The ill-fated SUV was hit by a speeding truck coming from opposite direction after its driver attempted to overtake another vehicle.
